Obermeyer

Obermeyer moved to Aspen, Colorado from Bavaria in 1946 to become a ski instructor at the mountain and it was all over for the ski industry from there. In 1947 Obermeyer started his line of ski apparel after noticing that his students wanted to turn in from skiing early because they felt cold. His first ski parka was made from a down comforter that he had brought with him from Bavaria. In the following years, Obermeyer has been an innovator with ski clothing and ski gear, using his background in engineering to thoughtfully develop products that serve skiers’ needs.
