Started in 1992 686 has always been about making snowboarding apparel by snowboarders for snowboarders. Taking a DIY made in America approach they created the first "Smarty" 3-in-1 snowboard pants by combining fleece sweatpants with a removable waterproof shell before there was anything else like it on the market! Another innovation from 686 was their tool belt; a waterproof leather belt that combines phillips and flat head screwdrivers with 8, 10, and 11mm wrenches and a bottle opener.
686 is also eco conscious, they were one of the first companies to start making fleece out of recycled bottles as well as using hemp, bambo and other eco friendly materials to create their apparel. They've also started taking unused scrap fabric from other manufacturers and then use them to create their own products.
Collaborating with a wide variety of other companies 686 has worked together to create apparel with Dickie's, Levi's, New Balance, Union Bindings, Skullcandy, BOA, and they even helped create a special edition SCION!
